ANGENUE's "I Hate Waiting" was written by singer-songwriter Ang Bocca, formerly of Ang & the Damn Band. The raw, simple, honest track was developed after Ang had a conversation with her dear late friend Brendan Cuniff about our generation's lack of romantic commitment and addition to mind games. Whenever the topic arose among friends, the lament was always the same: waiting is painful. Its melody was inspired by doo-wop, soul, and music from Adam Sandler movies; lyrically, it tells the development and struggle of a potential relationship. Ang & the Damn Band introduced “I Hate Waiting” at live shows, and it became a crowd favorite for it's catchy hook & vulnerable lyrics. Since then it has been re-imagined, recorded, and produced beautifully to create the sonic stepping stone of ANGENUE .The main vocals (Bocca) & ukulele (Chelsea Mitchell) of Dirty Dollhouse were recorded at HotBox Studios in Philadelphia, PA. The song was produced, mixed, mastered and completed by Joshua Bright & Guiseppe DiCristino of Collapsible Empire and Man Like Machine at Aurum Recording.
lyrics
Lyrics:
You look at me like this / I look at you like that / you let my ba-balloon ass sit on your ba-boney lap and you don't make me get up even when your legs get all numb, no.
Away for months at a time/ salt the glass/ spare me the lime/ whenever you're back in town it's half full every time / oh I want you so much I want to dizz all over your everything , yeah.
But I -I -I - I -I -I I hate waiting when oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh were just faking / and oh this epidemic is earth-quaking and I wanna help break everything.
Away for months at a time/ I'm dumb but no I ain't blind / and no I won't get a cat/ I ain't the lo-lonely kind/ I just like you so much especially when your star gets to shine, yeah/ we can't be serious/ but I'm delirious/ stop lookin' at me like that / you really should lower your cap/ oh don't make me get up/ ya see I really believe you are the one , yeah.
But I -I-I-I-I-I-I hate waiting / when oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh we're just faking / and oh I love you so so so much baby / that I already wanna break up. Uh-huh.
And all I wanted to be/ was the you , you are to me/ and all I got was fantasy/ but I'm a dreamer so I stayed asleep.
And I -I-I-I-I-I-I hate waiting/ when oh-oh-oh-oh-oh we're just faking / and oh this epidemic is heart erasing/ oh and I am all out of memory.
